Wetland Officer at the County Administrative Board of Kronoberg

Description

We are looking for a wetland officer for the nature management unit, where we currently have eight people.

Our work ranges from practical conservation work in the field to strategic environmental efforts. We participate in international collaborations, including through the EU's LIFE projects. With us, you will both benefit from the expertise of other colleagues and contribute your own skills.

Responsibilities

As a wetland officer, you will manage your own projects to restore drained wetlands and affected watercourses. You will:

• Plan and implement measures to restore the natural hydrology in wetlands, watercourses, or lakes. Measures may include blocking ditches, restoring defining sections, recreating meanders, or fish migration routes.
• Work on vegetation restoration in wetlands through activities such as clearing or grinding.
• Communicate with landowners and order consulting and contracting services.
• Lead fieldwork and instruct consultants and contractors.
• Prepare documentation for environmental impact assessments and other permit matters.

The work takes place both in the field and in the office, and you will have a central role in all parts of the projects.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree in biology/geoscience/ecology/limnology, engineering with a focus on nature and water conservation, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
• Experience in wetland restoration work.
• Documented experience working with GIS/ArcGIS.
• Good knowledge of the Environmental Code's regulations.
• A valid driver's license (B).

It is an advantage if you also have:

• Legal expertise and knowledge of environmental impact assessments and permit reviews.
• Experience in project management where you have demonstrated good communication skills, responsiveness, and teamwork abilities.
• Knowledge of wetland species and ecology.
